My Eggs Are Aging.......How Long Can I Wait To Get Pregnant?

Because a woman is born with all her eggs, they age along with her. What does this mean in practical terms? A woman’s natural fertility diminishes exponentially as she ages.

For example, a 23-year-old woman has a one-in-five, or 20% chance of getting pregnant each month. A 35-year-old woman has half that chance, or 12% each month. By age 42, a woman has a 5-in-100, or less than a 5% chance per month of conceiving naturally. So, if you are considering delaying conception, it’s worth noting that your fertility is not a tap that can be turned on and off at will. If the time is right for you, don’t put off having a baby. If, however, the time is not yet right, some assisted reproductive technologies have the ability to improve these odds for many women.
